When I wake to morning light

I feel Your unrelenting ownership

And, desperately, my hungry eyes

Search for Your smiling lips.

 

My soul melts to hear You sing;

Your absence is my only fear.

This love for You is so overpowering,

I think I might disappear

 

And sink into Your ocean –

Swallow up Your waves! –

‘Til I’m consumed by this emotion,

Drowning in its wake.

 

I’ll tear my heart out of my chest

To place within Your hands.

I want to be completely Yours—

To know and understand

 

Your ownership, complete, of me;

The way You call my name;

The way, no matter what I do,

You love me just the same.
