This coyote came from over a mile away. In the flat, open land of North Dakota, I as able to watch him all the way to 40 yards!
MISC STUFF: There are so many small things that go into making a successful hunt I barely know where to start. I'm not going to cover them all or go into great depth on them. Just keep them in mind when hunting. COVER SCENTS: The only cover scent I use is cigar smoke and fast food. On warm days I add in a bit of body odor. In other words, I pay no attention to coverscent. I don't believe that a cover scent will actually cover my smells. So, I don't bother. I watch the wind direction, I'm very careful how I set up according to the wind and if the wind is bad for a spot, I go to the next spot. Simple as that. CAMO: YES, YES, YES. When you are blowing a hand call and that fox knows exactly where you are, it's important not to show him WHAT you are! Matching camo to your surroundings will up your odds. Cover your face, hands and gun. It DOES make a difference. HUNTING WITH PARTNERS: Partners can either make or break a hunt. Get one that is not game for the hunt, makes a ton of noise or figets on stand and you can kiss your success goodbye. Get a good partner and he'll do nothing but help you in your hunting. And, besides, when you miss an easy shot someone will be there to razz you for the next year or so. It's just a lot more fun to hunt with partners who are good hunters.

When hunting in no cover, try to stay low and motionless like Dave Otto demonstrates here.
