In 1735, a compromise was effected by commissioners appointed by the General Assembly. This was an occasion of great local interest, and on the 5th of August, when the commissioners, 'Major Timothy Pierce, Mr. West, of Lebanon, and Sheriff Huntington, of Windham,' left New London, on their way to view the contested premises, they were accompanied by forty mounted men from the town, and found their train continually increasing as they proceeded. On the ground a large assembly had convened. The neighboring farm-houses, Smith's, Niles', &c., were filled to overflowing with guests. This is mentioned as exhibiting a characteristic of the times. Our early local history is every where besprinkled with such gatherings."11

Added by this researcher: (I have her as having 11 children - perhaps some of those died at a early age and were not counted.)
On page 103 of History of Montville: "This stone, with the above inscription, was probably erected several years after her death by some one of her grandchildren, and the number of the children there mentioned may have been taken from the will of her husband, in which only eight children are mentioned, three having died previous to the date of the will. The will was admitted to probate in 1757."24,25,26

From Source # 58: "He probably settled first at Waterford, and afterwards may have moved into the North Parish of New London, where his son, Christopher, appears to have settled. In a document dated 30 April, 1765, Christopher Darrow, Jr., gives a lease of land in North Parish "to his father, Christopher Darrow during his natural life," and says, "Said piece of land is the same that was set out and described in a deed to Abel Shoals, and Anna, his wife, set out of their father's, John Minard's estate."31
"July 31, 1783, Christopher Darrow, Jr., conveyed by deed to Jonathan Darrow a tract of land containing 36 acres, situated in North Parish, and says -- It being a tract of land my father gave me by deed of gift." The records do not show haw many children Christopher Darrow, Sr., had , and the only names recovered are Christopher and Jonathan."28
