Grading |
Report card grades for writing are either S, N, or I. S=Satisfactory-student follows class rules, completes work on time. N=Needs Improvement- student does not follow class rules and/or could do better work. I=Incomplete- Student does not complete assignments during class time. |

Students' writing will be graded for content, organization, purpose, audience, and grammar using a rubric, usually on a scale of one to four. The rubric will follow the same pattern as the rubric which is used to grade the fifth grade state writing assessment. |

Students who receive three checkmarks in a six weeks period will have an 'N' on their report card. They are only in writing class for 1 1/2 hours per week, so it is quite difficult to receive three checkmarks. |

At the end of each six weeks, students who have completed all assignments in class will be rewarded, while students who have incomplete assignments work to finish them. |
