USTHS celebrates high school week

The UST High School celebrated its 76th year of foundation last February 16 – 20, 2004. The Student Council was the one who organized the different activities inside the building. Together with all the club’s activities, High School week was a success.

These are some of the activities of each club: Student Council: Ukay-Buhay, Mr. and Ms. USTHS, HS Dance Student’s Catholic Action: Ukay-Buhay, Marriage booth Samahang Kulturang Filipino: Hataw Na! Math Club: Shot-your-crush booth Athletics Club: Awarding Ceremonies; Natural Science Club: Yo-yo Fest Dialektikos: Debate BSP & GSP: Jail booth Reader’s Club: Book Fair Technical Artistic Skills Cirlce: Chalk Festival ASAC: War of the Wits English Forum: Dedication and kiss booth Music Society: Singing Telegram Social Studies Circle: Mock Elections.

The Students enjoyed the services rendered by the different clubs. Unlike the celebration of last year’s HS Week, the fun activities of the clubs were compressed in just two days instead of the whole week. Although the fun did not last that long, still the students enjoyed the celebration of this school years High School Week.





first year wins war of the wits

The Association of Students for Academic Competition (ASAC) conducted its annual quiz be the War of the Wits. The elimination round was held on February 18, 2004 Each class (from first to fourth year) selected one representative to compete for the contest. Overall, 40 students competed in the eliminations. The top five highest scorers for each year level advanced for the finals held last February 24, 2004 at the Benavides Auditorium. Benix Masangcay from I-St. Agnes bagged the gold medal plus a cash prize. He was followed by the silver medalist, Cloyd Nierra of IV-St. Digna and the bronze medalist, Kristine Villanueva of III-St. Crispin




students take mock elections

Recently the SSC (Social Studies Circle) held a Mock Election last week. The students were given the chance to voice out their choice for the next president, vice-president, and line of senators. But before that, a symposium was held in the Benavidez Auditorium. Mr. Jose Cruz III, who is the guest speaker from the College of Medicine, discussed how to vote wisely and what must be considered in voting the right person for the position. Afterwards, the students proceeded to the Computer Laboratory. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (president) and Noli de Castro (vice-president) topped the election.
