Shannon MacMillan's story is just simply awesome. She was left out for the '95 world cup, being cut, but fought her way back on the roster, and joined the team again for the olympics. Head Coach Tony DiCicco even said, "I 1995 I made a terrible mistake. I cut Shannon MacMillan."

Things were tough for her when she was young. Her parents weren't too supportive and didn't go to games. Her teammates helped pay her admission fees. Things have changed though and her parents are very proud of her.

I admire Shannon very much. Even though times were tough and she did not have much support, She stuck with it. I don't think I could have done something like that. Go Mac! We all love you!

Shannon has the hardest shot on the team. Briana Scurry, the U.S. goalkeeper says she feels somewhat sorry for the opposing keepers. It is hard to stop anything she fires at you!

Shannon is definitely one of my favorite players. It is hard to believe that after being cut from the team, she came back and kicked major @$$ four years later, in WWC-99.

Hats off to you Shannon! Good luck to you in Sydney 2000!!!

I recently wrote a poem in English class about Shannon and her "Golden Goal." Unfortunately I got a B on it. I thought it was a great poem though! Oh well. That is okay I guess. Next time I write something for school about the USWNT, it will be an A+ paper!
