Mia Hamm is the most well known player on the team. She's got commercials done with her in them, and is a "big shot". She is a forward and graduated from North Carolina with a degree in political science. She was born March 17th in Selma, Alabama. Her hometown is Chapel Hill, N.C. She has been training with the National Team since she was 15 years old! Wow.
Mia Hamm was a two-time Missouri Athletic Club and Hermann Award winner, 1992-93. While at UNC she won four NCAA championships. She completed her collegiate career as the ACC's all-time leading scorer in goals.
Mariel Margaret Hamm (Mia's full name) is Married to Christiaan Corry, a Marine Corp pilot. She won the 1998 ESPY award for outstanding female athlete. Her hobbies include cooking, golf, and watching college basketball.
After goalie Briana Scurry was ejected from the game, Mia was put in goal!
