There are many things that make Kristine Lilly so great, but I would be here forever naming all of them. Kristine and Julie have been on the team since they were 16 years old. Kristine has made more international appearances than anyone in the world, male or female. She won four titles while at UNC. Her accomplishments are endless. She was born in Wilton, Connecticut and there's a sign that says... "Wilton: Home of Kristine Lilly. I think she is the hero of the World Cup final... the ball was going into the net when all of a sudden Kristine dove in front of it, saving it with her head!!! My heart stopped when I was watching that game, I thought my team might lose... Thanks Kristine!!!
And I remember the ESPN guys saying before they showed that play, saying "And here's Lilly and her relationship with the post..." and some other funny things which unfortunately i can't remember :(
Kristine is definitely one of the unsung heroes. Her and Shannon MacMillan. Being overshadowed by Mia Hamm and Michelle Akers, but she is definitely a hero to the many young soccer players that look up to her, like myself.
