Rules for Foster City Photography Contest
Eligibility
The contest is open to all amateur and hobby photographers.  REgardless of city of residence.  Entries may not be previously published.

Categories and Formats
I. CATEGORIES
Entries may be submitted in any of the following categories:
1. Portrait of a human or animal subject.
2. Sports or Action Shot
3. Photomanipulation
4. Landscape or Natural Feature
5. Landmark or Architectural Structure

Photomanipulation is defined as digitally altering a photograph beyond facial retouching or color adjustments. An example of a photomanipulation would be a photo of the Eiffel Tower morphing into a tree or a photo of the Titanic going over Niagara Falls. 

II. FORMATS
All entries must be
a minimum size of 4x6 inches and no larger than 8x10 inches.  Entries must be submitted raw�no frames or mats. Both traditional photographs and digital images are acceptable.  Entries may be in color or black and white.  Sorry, slides cannot be accepted. Entries not conforming to the set restrictions will not be considered for judging.

Entry Forms and Fees

A
separate entry form and entry fee is required for each entry submitted. For residents of Foster City, the entry fee is ten ($10); for entrants residing outside of Foster City, the fee is fifteen dollars ($15) per photograph submitted.  For entries postmarked AFTER OCTOBER 31, 2005, the fee increases to $12 for Foster City residents and $17 for non-residents.  If submitting more than one entry, please remit only one check. Checks must be in US funds only.  Please make your check payable to the �City of Foster City.� Mail your entries to

Please keep a copy of your submitted photograph
as entries cannot be returned. All entries become property of the city of Foster
City. All entries must be received by 5 pm on December 29th, 2005.


Prizes
A one hundred dollar ($100) prize and a rosette ribbon will be given to the first prize winner in each category. Honorable mention winners may be chosen at the judges' discretion.  Winners will be notified in mid February. Winning photographs will placed on display in the Rec. Center glass display cases. The winner must supply his or her social security number in order to receive the monetary prize.

If the winning photograph in the portrait category contains a person�s likeness, the
person whose likeness appears in the photograph MUST submit a signed
release form, stating that they allow their likeness to be on public display.
