How We Met
The first time we met was in Business Seminar Class at Rick's College, in Rexburg, Idaho. I saw that he was sitting alone and thought he was good looking so I asked if I could sit next to him. What would develop, I had no clue, but I sat down and we became good friends. We saw each other a few times at class and we discussed business and how the teachers had no clue what they were talking about. The next semester Jared asked if I would be his partner for a ballroom dance class. I was so excited that he would ask me. But unfortunately there were too many people in the class and we couldn't get in. So we remained friends and he would come to visit me with his buddies the "Maveriks"!
He lived at Rigby Hall with the Maveriks!
Canuck, as he is known, played hockey and invited me to one of his games in Idaho Falls, Idaho. On the way to the game we passed a Maverik Country Store, and Canuck told me about the name of his buddies. Ironically I am a Maverik too. I grew up in Afton, Wyoming the home of Maverik Country Stores and I was nicknamed the Mav-Chick from then on.
Canuck and I hung out a few times as friends and had a lot of fun. When I came back to Rick's for the second year I never heard from Canuck. One of the Maverik's lived next door and I did talk to Canuck when he was visiting him. It wasn't until I was at USU in Logan, Utah that I recieved a letter from him. From then on we wrote back and forth to each other and talked on the phone. Then Jared came to visit me in Utah during Thanksgiving of 1997 and we hit it off.
For New Years I visited him in Vancouver, British Columbia. I met his family in Edmonton, Alberta and that's where he asked me to marry him at the Alberta Legislative building!
