The FOSTER_PET Group was created because in times of war military personnel are deployed on short notice, civilians are hospitalized, displaced by fire, and suffer a million other crises. When pet owners, military or civilian, find themselves in a serious bind, they do not want to give up their pets. Dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish, and a million other species do more than just make people happy. Keeping their pets may be instrumental in helping people weather the crisis. A Foster Parent is someone who is willing to provide temporary care for a pet until the owner is able to care for it again. Unless Foster Care is available, owners may need to surrender their pet to an animal shelter. Few shelters (including those who commit to find homes for animals or keep them indefinitely) are prepared with programs to return pets to their original owners. Either most shelters arrange a permanent placement or have the animals destroyed. After you become a member please read the first Post and look at the Foster Parents’ Group.
