| 2009 Civil War Summer Trip | ||||||
| First of all, this is a voluntary activity - neither class nor school related. This is a private vacation Mr. & Mrs. Foster take almost every summer. Two summers ago we were able to take 4 students from my Civil War class along. Last summer we were not able to get the proper amount of particpants in order to make our lodging workable. Please read the following info carefully. We will take all precautions possible but we are not responsible for for any liability. When: Friday, July 3 Wednesday, July 8 Depart around 8:00 AM on Friday, July 3 and return around 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8 Who: Currently Mr. & Mrs. Foster and 4-9 Civil War students *If Mr. & Mrs. Foster are the only adults, there will be room for 4 students (2 girls & 2 boys) and the cost would be around $275 per person. *If we can add another adult driver, we can take up to 9 students and the cost drops with each additional student. *We will have to work on the proper number of participants. We have 2-3 hotel rooms - one adult per room is required - obviously only one gender to a room. Cost per Person: $175 - $275 depending on the number of people Deadlines: Since the cost can change depending on the number of people, I dont want to collect any money or lock anyone in until we have a set number and a set price. So 1) By April 1st, I need to know who and how many are willing to commit to participating. 2) By May 1st, I will need to the total amount paid in full. 3) If anyone needs to cancel after having paid, I will not be able to refund the money without either finding a person to replace you or canceling the trip for everyone! What does the cost include? 1) Five nights lodging 2) Transportation, gas, tolls and parking fees (including van rental) 3) Lunch on Friday, Breakfast at the hotel 4) 1-Day Washington, DC Metro pass 5) Gettysburg Visitors Center Museum fee 6) Antietam National Park fee 7) Harpers Ferry National Park fee 8) 1-Day ticket for 146th Annual Gettysburg Reenactment (weather permitting) What other costs are expected? 1) All other meals (remember, East Coast prices are more expensive) 2) Souvenirs and shopping 3) Other optional activities or entertainment (ghost tours; horseback riding; rafting; putt-putt; etc.) 4) I would plan on at least $200 depending on the student Where will we stay?
