June 17: Fire and Ice

Heh. I was working on the new cache page and looking through my archives and clicked this link.

With neither team caching, we won't get caught for over a year, and I can stop obsessing every day, I think.

I took Casey to a library program today. It was Mad Scientist Jordan who was playing with dry ice and with fire... fascinating, though when I quizzed the kid afterwards what "dry ice" was made of, the answer was "water?" Still, it was fun.

Casey never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity...you'd think the kid was Palestinian! Tuesday the two foster kids took off, in the dusk, through some tough neighborhoods. I suspect it's magical thinking... if I get in enough trouble, my Mom will come rescue me.

Then the foster mom was all over their cases when they finally came home, and the other child claimed she hit. She had a long talk with me and what she did was grab them and yell at them. The other child, however, is now in a different home, and Casey is seeing the social worker tomorrow. It'd be awful if they moved this kid, since this foster mom is just perfect. Worry worry.

I saw a Marine bumper sticker, and since I was driving couldn't copy it down, but the gist of it was "Those who have defended freedom have a better taste of it than the ones who were protected."

Comment at Bill Quick (who is so agitated about Bush at this point that he might not vote... I happen to think some of his disgust is due to his personal problems, in that he was unemployed for a little while.)

Despite the usual rhetoric about it not being fatal if Kerry wins, I don't think that that's true this time. I don't think that that type of thinking will be true until this war is over. A president who has no interest in America's security could be deadly. Kerry's 'police' effort ideas will get us bombed, again and again because it is a return to the precise, ineffectual policy of the past.

Pile-of-Dung Harkin is loose again. (I call him that since he said, before ever looking at it, that the impeachment evidence didn't amount to a pile of dung. And then the way he behaved at the Wellstone funeral kept the nickname for me.) Now he wants to censor Rush Limbaugh. And Clinton's book... oh, glorp. He did a lot more bad things than playing with the intern. And he didn't do a thing about terrorism. He's trying to polish his legacy, but 9/11 is his legacy. (And the commission? Geeze.)

Here is a fun blog.
