97 degrees
June 6: D-Day

Again they claimed it was going to be cooler, but it was 97 degrees here. Fortunately, we weren't here for most of the day.

The day started at church, where we had a great time showing Eric off. He's the first grandkid at our church since my mom's funeral. We took full advantage. The gentleman who sat in front of us was so taken with Eric that he gave him a dollar to start his college fund! Eric was also taken with the woman behind us, I think because she is dark-haired and probably reminded him of his mother. What a flirt! (The baby, I mean, of course!)

Vince fed him and then we stopped at the golf course for a quick pass through the ice cream social sponsored by a radio station. Then it was into the car and Eric slept pretty much all the way to Novato.

We didn't look for any caches, but G&V only did one, an event bike ride, yesterday, so it's 3100 end of Feb. However, they were at the party this evening (they'd been caching in San Rafael and met one of the party organizers) and they'll be really catching up soon.

Alex was REALLY excited to have company! Yesterday she went to Sesame Street Live with her daddy and with Genevieve and Mark, so she's had a full weekend. She was asleep when we came but woke up quickly. They had toys the right age for Eric and it was really hard for his cousin to share with him. Then we went to the park. Eric wasn't quite ready for the swings, but enjoyed sitting in the sand (we were glad, though, we didn't go to Tomales Bay... too cold and windy). Finally, we started back to the house, all except for Alex, who had to dillydally with her Djadja for about half an hour.

Eric had a bath (I had a setup, but no soap) and was splashing about having a grand time when Monica and Mark came. Alex finally got back and we had a huge strawberry spongecake outside. R.J. had thought it was too big, so I taunted him: "HOW long have you known us? This is the YARNOT family, not that nice, polite, restrained, quiet group YOU grew up in!!"

World's Cutest Babies.
They played together a little, mostly with that fascinating other baby.

The Bigs. (We used to call the older three that because of the six-year gap between boys. The gap is a lot less here!)
These two did play together a lot more with the occasional "MOMMY!" However, it was hard to get a picture, especially of Genevieve, and why did she put the puzzle piece in her mouth? Who knows?

So, then it was time for Monica and Mark to leave, and for us to go to the geocaching party. Vince got to stay and have steak. Happy birthday, kid! His sisters took a lot better care of this than I did. I'd like to think that if we hadn't gone off to Junction City, I'd at least have gotten him a card. As it was, he's the one who gave ME a present!

The party was fun. I took 7 travel bugs and got 10, which includes one (a Jeep, which is in a contest with 3999 others) I got as a door prize. Imagine my surprise (with a tiny bit of dismay) to see G&V there. Oh, well. There was a pretty big Sacramento contingent. We met some new people and got to find three other caches, one especially for the party and two that were "before-dinner cocktails" and "after-dinner mints." We rescued Vince and Eric (and Roni and R.J.) just past 8 and so home.
