May 27: Case Conference

I'm two more pounds down. This morning it sounded like there was a bird in our chimney, probably a baby magpie. Fortunately, the parental nagging got it out, so we didn't have to try.

We went bowling this morning and both Jans bowled the same game. I had six strikes in a row, then couldn't hit the broad side of a barn (to coin a phrase.) I still got 200 that game, and came right back with a 157, then finished the day with a 104. Still, hey, I got six strikes in a row!!

I had the case conference about Casey. The child will be going up for adoption, hopefully with the current foster parent. In any case, my supervisor tells me I'll get an adoption social worker, and they all think they're God, and who is this lowly child advocate worker to make suggestions? OK, I hope she's wrong, and I get the one and only decent one. I've had pretty good luck with social workers to this point.

Bernadette called and she and Robert are flying to Oregon tomorrow as Rob's dad is very ill. She says Rob's knee surgery went well and he's walking better than he did already. She herself won a writing contest at Opus and an apprenticeship (via e-mail) with Robert Asprin! Also, they got a firewire external drive and managed to mangle the backup and lost about 6 months of data including a lot of her pictures. I'm thinking computerwar thoughts about Apples and the genii who maintain them. I suppose the latter is more of a motherinlaw thought.

On Algore's breakdown: GoreBot Mark III. James Taranto opines that Gore is certifiable:

How did things go so terribly wrong for Al Gore? When he ran for president in 1988, he was a fresh-faced, moderate "new Democrat." He lost the nomination to the electrifying Michael Dukakis, but he was only 40 and his future looked bright. Yet he never lived up to his potential, and today he is a pitiful, though scary, old man.

Protein Wisdom (Jeff Goldstein) adds this (thanks to Dailypundit). Vodkapundit comments, as does Michelle with more moonbats. There's gotta be medication.

There's an upcoming documentary about Michael Moore. Wanna guess how much buzz it will get?

A letter from a Marine.

Bush 1 was right to stop at Kuwait.

Good News roundup.
