Yesterday I forgot everything with Casey. First I forgot the snacks, and the Valentine I'd gotten the kid, then decided the library program would be too young, then tried to get a computer and the wait was 90 minutes, so we went home with the kid in a total sulk. Not a great success this time.

Today we went caching with Pagan out in Roseville. First we found a Macaroni Grill for lunch. I drew Churchy on the tablepaper with that saying, and Pagan demanded they bring back the nacholike appetizers. Then we went to the park real close to the Polish-American center. There's a tree there with a pipe... the tree has grown around the pipe. We investigated all around the tree for the cache only to find it on the ground near the sidewalk.

Then we went to a housing area to look for Couplets. It has a verse I didn't copy down, but now that I've seen the area, the verses still don't make sense. We had no luck with this one.

Exfoliation is the first cache one of our supercachers (remember the time a few weeks ago we were hopscotching finds with Don?) has put out. It's a very nice hide under a piece of wood. It's in the same park as a couple of others we found earlier, so we stood around while Pagan located them. We did replace the soaked log sheet in one.

Don's second cache came from the cache stash we found a couple of weeks ago. He calls it Nuts Along the Path. The first part is under a bridge, and I walked around while Pagan and Rich slid down the embankment, so Rich found it. Next is a metal tag on a tree, and the final cache was a flat AOL tin, camouflaged, under a log. Rich found all three stages. We signed it, and as we started back, it began to rain. I looked at the three of us, getting wet for the thrill of the chase, Nuts Along the Path.

It was only a small shower and had cleared by the time we got back nearer to home, where we walked along a path near Cherry Island golf course and found our last cache of the day. This made for a nice day and it was fun being with Pagan.

For the first time in 12 years I went through all the cookbooks and got rid of a lot more. I kept the ones I thought I might use, put almost a hundred into the library donation stack, and yet the shelf still looks exactly the same.

Peter Beinart of The New Republic vehemently accused Hugh of irresponsible journalism by mentioning the Drudge Report story about Kerry's alleged infidelity without having done any responsible verification of the sources, in effect making Kerry publicly prove his innocence without having any evidence of his guilt. However, TNR and every other media outlet has done the exact same thing to George Bush despite the normal presumption of innocence and the extraordinary presumption of satisfactory and complete service that an Honorary Discharge presents.

They're just trying to Change the Subject from Kerry's past and Kerry's votes. That, and Terry McAwful is trying to finish his destruction of his party.

On the hourly ABC news, Ann Compton said it's still a hot story, then the reporter completely contradicted this. They both sound disappointed. (This was before they found another way to move the goalposts. Hypocrites.) A Cartoon.
