I'm trying to get some of the VCR tapes organized, so I watched an old, OLD tape, about earthquakes. It's pre-89 (1986, I think). Interesting, but nothing about the Loma Prieta Quake.
Yesterday, before we headed off to Gymboree, I cooked a turkey for Loaves and Fishes. I stuck it in the fridge and we left. The house smelled WONDERFUL. Today I got up early to slice it. I washed out the foil roasting pan but then discovered the turkey could use another half hour or so, so I used one of my pans. Then I sliced it up, white meat on one side, dark on the other, bones staying here for soup, tiny crumbs to the pets. After Mass we took the turkey (and all the motel soaps and shampoos I've been collecting) to Loaves and Fishes and then we went on up to Auburn for the 9th Mountain Mandarin Festival. This was a nice little foodfest. Every little farm in the area was selling 10 pound bags for $10. At first I didn't think we could use so much, but we thought about it, and sure we can. There were the usual arts-crafts suspects. We tasted a LOT of mandarins! This whole adventure took an hour or so. I will want to do this one again next year.
