*(scary words those) "For a previous generation", anyways. I guess 39 years ago, it IS a "previous generation" and most of the people alive today don't remember. I feel so OLD.
Bigwig did a thing about individual memorable dates. At first I didn't understand him, and thought of finding Gerhard's body, but the ones I remember "where I was" are, beyond JFK and 9/11: OKC bombing, the Challenger, Princess Diana, Reagan's shooting (and Bobby Kennedy and MLK), Lennon's death, the Moscow coup (in Casper, is where I was. I was astounded by all the stuff going on), the Moonwalk, Apollo 13, and Nixon's resignation. (Arkansas. I was glued to the television hearings.)
We finally got our license plate yesterday. We also put on various decals: Loretto, U. of Wyoming, Saint Vincent College, the Zoo, and AAA (which was already on). All but UW are transparent, so we have no trouble seeing through the window, but since the window isn't tinted, at least the decals can be seen.
I drove my neighbor to the kid's orthodontist appointment today. While I was sitting around in the lobby, I watched a news show when Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were interviewed. He is going to be the Narrator for "Our Town" on Broadway, and THERE is a play I would love to see. I still admire this couple!
On the way home, my neighbor asked about our Christmas tree. I'd been thinking about not putting it up, and finally thought I should mention that to Rich. He'd had the same thought, so we won't have a tree up this year. (We'll still decorate the outside, etc, however.) With no one coming, and since the cats are so hard on a tree, this seems like the best thing to do.
Jonah Goldberg: "Now, since Gore wants to get nominated by a party dominated by its liberal base, it only makes sense that he'd say all of these things -- especially since he's not burdened by the demands of either conviction or consistency." At least Video Tape may show Al Gore is alive.
These STUPID riots in Nigeria (the "Religion of Peace" again, has killed more than 200 people) are because a newspaper opined that Mohammed would have liked these pretty girls. It's as well that Christians don't riot about "what would Jesus drive," isn't it?
ObGoe: They're showing True Lies on cable tonight. He liked this movie and conned me into seeing it, and I hated it, and we "discussed" it a lot after that.
