This is the second week in a row I'm up a pound. Argh. I have been digging through junk in the back apartment and making some inroads there.
Blue Mountain cards (which are still the best) are now subscription things. Rats. I tried another company and the card didn't go through. When I forwarded the info, he couldn't open it. It's just as well it wasn't all that wonderful a card, yes?
The second big project of the day was to defrost the freezer. We've been setting up for awhile, so in the end it didn't take all that long. I kept hearing avalanches... and I would go and take the frozen lumps out and throw them in the back so that the freezer would go faster. One time I heard this tremendous noise in the sky, and I saw a hawk being harassed by a murder of crows, at least twenty of them. I tried to get a picture, but the camera is acting up again. (I have a theory... the new case I got is too small, and it turns on and is cramped and wears down the battery, even though it isn't supposed to. I'm going to get a bigger case (ack! the waste of money!!) and see if that doesn't help. I really don't want to have to send the camera in again, especially if it can be solved easily.)
The first big project, of course, was to vote. I walked the dog down to my precinct. They asked if I'd had trouble finding them and I said no, since I'd voted in the primary. I also (again) signed a thing that says Bernadette doesn't live here any more. Then I went back to a well-behaved Sailor and off we went to see Rich. He was having a good time at his precinct. They all liked my dog, who was misbehaving badly once he heard "daddy's" voice. And so home to finish cleaning out the freezer.
YAY!! Reminds me of 1994, when the local elections went poorly for me (though thank goodness California didn't pass same-day registration) but the national picture was pleasant. I'm sorry Pile-of-Dung Harkin and Lautenburg (how long before he resigns? I give him six months) won, but on the whole, what a nice slap at the Clintonized Trailer Trash party. Oregon did well on universal health care, and even Berkeley voted sensibly on coffee. Daschle may have held onto SD but in a real squeaker. And Mondale is probably secretly breathing a sigh of relief. He didn't plan to be a junior senator in a minority party! It's funny listening to the Sunday pundits babbling about where they'll put Mondale.
Brokaw started with the "50-50 Nation" title, and now he'll have to come up with some different sound bite.
Heeeheeeheee!
Andre Norton, ill, is Mary Norton's daughter! I had no idea. But I thought Mercedes Lackey was dead? Oh, that's right, I have her mixed up with Marion Zimmer Bradley.
ObGoe: the Republican sweep of Nevada. They slapped down Senator Reid for dancing on Wellstone's grave real good. Although I don't understand them voting pot down. This is the state with legalized prostitution, but ghu forbid they should have a toke!
