Start Your Own Company - Play The Market - Make An Empire - Claim Everything

Stock Shock is currently in Alpha stages. No release date has been set for Beta testing.

Stock Shock allows users to run through a simulation of starting their own company and playing the stock market alongside other users. Companies are started up in one of many industries available and can grow to expand into other industries. Some industries include reality, technology, transportation, farming, fuel, entertainment, and even, for a dash of reality, precarious crime. Companies split the incoming funds from each industry based on the industries demands. The player then creates stock in their new company to be traded either publicly or privately. Stock's value are reflected by the current demand of the industry and the percentage of the industry controlled by the company. Incoming funds from the player can be used to invest into their own company or into other's companies to create a lucrative corporate empire. Certain turns can even be used to do research in certain areas of the stock market or the industries themselves. Research gained can be applied to certain sectors to either boost your own company's status or sbotage your opponents.

Will you be able to trade your stocks effieciently? Will you hold on to your new empire? Or will greed and mismanagement cause you to lose controlling interest in your company? Do you have what it takes to keep from being Stock Shocked?

The game is being created, programmed, designed, and maintained by Foss at FDD. It is being programmed in the cross-platform language Java, so any user with any type of computer will be able to play with any of their friends. Whether you're running on a Windows, Mac, or Linux machine, Stock Shock will be available to you. As of recently, an Android client of the game is also being considered as a strong possibility. Users will have access to both the client and server versions of the program. Hosting a game is as simple as running the server on your computer and giving the login info either to your friends privately or online players publicly. The graphics requirements of the game will be extremely low, as well as the demand for bandwidth, ensuring that users with almost any level of PC and internet service will be able to enjoy the fun of Stock Shock.

As with all FDD projects, Stock Shock will rely heavily on open-source and royalty-free resources, ensuring the game will be affordable and accessable to everyone.
