If you are a fan of the Tony Hawks Pro Skater series, definetly give this game a look, or most probably, a buy... when you see this game on xbox.
I've gone right through the Tony Hawks series for dreamcast. Starting off with the simple but fun Tony Hawks Pro Skateboarding, following right through to Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2, which was kick ass fun on the PC and Dreamcast...unfortunately Tony Hawks Pro Skater x2 only came out in America...but i still knew that Activision's skating game series was full of fun. It started off seriously, but now the objectives are fun, fun, fun, weird, wacky and wonderful...thats what gaming is all about...well maybe not Whacky all the time...
First of all the graphics...if you haven't played tony hawks pro skater 3 on the xbox then you haven't played tony hawks pro skater at all. Now i dont mean to brag, just because i have an xbox personally, but go ahead and play the game; and you would know what im talking about. The attention to detail is spectacular. It (like another tagline of the xbox) also blurs the lines between fantasy and reality. The only reason why you notice your at home playing your xbox, is when you start an earthquake or stop a car chase in L.A....or if you sink a foreman in the foundry level....or start skateboarding around the airport...it is games like this that make you do all the things you wanted to in real life...but just couldn't...and make it seem realistic such as in real life also.
The other usual objectives are there, high scores, and doing a certain trick at a certain place....there will be a photographer there to take his 'cover shot' and you will get to see this picture once the run has ended. Its little things like this that impress.
Some of the music soundtrack i personally dont like, i would prefer Tony hawks 2 soundtrack. But its all good, as another feature of this game is that you can listen to the audio tracks you've ripped to the hard drive whilst playing the game!
So sum up a longer review: The objectives are fun. The Graphics are great. The multiplayer mode is more fun. You can build your own skatepark. There is an extra oil rig level for the xbox. Apparently you can play as Darth Maul and other fun secret characters... The list goes on. I can't say enough good things about tony hawks proskater 3, except, apart from Halo ( review coming soon ) this is a really good reason for me personally to get an Xbox.
Suffice to say, I can't wait for Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4
