ABOUT US:
The Fort Worth Texans is non-profit organization who's mission is to train and condition athletes, ages 18 and older, to the peak of their fitness, agility, and ability both mentally and physically in the competitive sport of minor league football. At the same time, providing a vehicle (i.e., games and practices) in which to showcase that fitness, agility and ability by providing statistical information to the league in which the Texans are affiliated. None of the players receive any monetary compensation. The players are strictly in it for recognition and the love of the game. Holding true to our mission, some Texan players have received attention from the next levels. In the past, players have gone on to the Canadian Football League, Arena League and had a personal tryout with a NFL team.

Founder Donny Anderson established the Fort Worth Texans football team in 1996. The team was a member of the Dallas Amateur Football League. Though not officially (due to league complications unrelated to the Texans), Anderson led the team to a championship his last year after a perfect season. In 1999, the team was passed to Carl Sims, then offensive right guard, who took over all the responsibilities of head coach and owner, as well as continued to play. That same year, the team clinched the official title as the 2000 DAFL Champions. After two injuries within 6 months of each other, in 2000, Coach Sims retired from playing and now concentrates on the coaching of the team.

As mentioned before, the Texans are a non-profit organization. The team relies on the donations from others outside the organization along with players' dues. There are financial responsibilities that have to be met each and every year. The average costs incurred by any one minor league football team can meet or exceed $40,000 per year.

Not only is the team family owned and operated but it is also family oriented. Players and their families are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the workings of the team. This is demonstrated by the involvement of the wives and families at practices and on game days. The Fort Worth Texans are more than a team. The Fort Worth Texans are family!
