HIGHEST PRIORITY: WORKING ON RANK ADVANCEMENT AND RECRUITMENT.
|
Scoutmaster's Corner March 29, 2007 To the boys: Scouts, we are well into the year and it's time to make serious plans for Summer Camp. Plans like "What Merit Badges am I going to take?" and "Do I want to see our troop earn another Blue Heron Award?" Your Scoutmaster is busier than ever right now trying to make a living, so chances are you won't see him as much for awhile, especially after we get the Spring Camporee over with. The other adults will be stepping up to fill in, so don't let that surprise you. Most of the adults are almost through their required training and can become Assistant Scoutmasters pretty soon. You all need to concentrate on getting your advancement done to move up to the next rank. You now have a new Sr. Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader. You need to let your Patrol Leader know when you will not be at a meeting. He is your contact for all things Boy Scouting. Your Scoutmaster To the adults: Gentlemen, We covered a lot of ground at the meeting on Tuesday, March 27. As you know, I will not have a lot of time to spend on getting Scouting done for immediate future and will need to depend on all of you to pull the troop through. The big things coming are the Spring Camporee, Summer Camp and our advancement and recruiting efforts. One of the best things each of you can do to help is to complete your Adult Leader training classes. One of the key classes, the Outdoor Leader Training course will be taught at the Southwest Conservation Club over April 20-21. You need to register early in order to get a slot. This is the most fun of all the training courses and you will be camping out one night on this course. Please make sure you get your Fast Start, New Leader Essentials, Troop Committee and Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Specific courses out of the way, too. Youth Protection is also required and can be taken on-line from the Council web site. Your Scoutmaster Andy H, |
