On the evening of March 21, 2004, Lieutenant Terri Eiland gave her life to God while responding to a Woods Fire in Rescue 5. Lieutenant Eiland became a Firefighter with the Forts Lake/Franklin Creek Volunteer Fire Department in November 2000. During these few years, Lieutenant Eiland performed many duties in the Fire Department including Board Secretary and Purchasing Agent. Her training was that of achieveable performance. Lieutenant Eiland recently attended the Mississippi State Fire Academy to challenge the Mississippi Certified Volunteer Firefighter Level-I program, and she did just that. Also, she was a Emergency Medical First Responder. Beforehand, Lieutenant Eiland completed the S-130/S-190/I-100 (Firefighter Type II, Basic Fire Behavior, Basic Incident Command) Course taught by the Department of Interior/Mississippi Sandhill Crane Refuge. Other training included the Volunteer Firemen's Insurance Emergency Vehicle Driver's Program; Terrorism Response; Hazardous Material Operations; Basic Medical Care Courses, etc. Lieutenant Eiland will be missed by ALL.
Terri is survived by her husband, Preston (also a Firefighter with the Forts Lake-Franklin Creek VFD) and son, Bobby. Please keep Terri's family and friends in your prayers.

We would like to thank everyone for their support. During this tragic time, all of the Jackson County Fire Departments as well as those that surround us, came to our aid. Our station was manned and the calls were answered by other Fire Departments, so that our firefighters could be at the side of Terri's family. The list is so big, we decide not to list them to keep from leaving anyone out.
