A little better than the previous issue, but again looking back on it, it could still be easily improved on. I'd discovered Word Art on the PC's at school by this point, so that did away with the stencil from #1. I used Derek Yanighers G2 Prime head (from TF: G2 US #1) for the cover because I'd just got the issue with it on and Prime was in one of the stories... and I knew how terrible the my artwork looked on the cover of #1. TOC's ongoing story line carried on this issue with Emirate Xaaron trying to come to some type of agreement with Fort Max. Scorponok takes over the Decepticons, banishing Straxus and his Lieutenants to Polyhex. At the end of the story Max has a 'hit me' note stuck on his back, which reappears again in #3. The Sentinel story concludes this issue with Optimus Prime taking command of the Autobot Army. This story incorporates the two Marvel TF stories What's in a name? and The Flames of Boltex (from TF UK Annual 1987 and TF US #48, reprinted in TF UK #196-7). There was a story preview in this issue giving a brief synopsis of four stories that I had planned for TOC. Only one of them ('Hunted' in TOC #4-5) has actually been written and published. I have a rough script for one involving the G2 Rotorbots and time travel. I'm still keen to develop another, involving the Quintessons and a pre-war Unicron-worshipping cult which could now tie in nicely with Eugenesius. The fourth one, about the early missions of the Wreckers is on hold for now. |
