This was unsurprisingly the first issue of Tales of Cybertron. Very rough. I would love to redo it, but then that would be missing the point in a way. Produced with my early artwork (the strips as bad as the cover). All text was produced on an old PCW9512 with dot-matrix printer. Those were the days... :-) The title on the cover was produced with a stencil, never to be seen again. What a shame! The main Decepticon Civil War story line started this issue with 'Deadly Foes'. This story sees tensions in both the Autobot and Decepticon armies start to reach critical. Fortress Maximus is struggling to make his voice heard above a very strong willed Emirate Xaaron. Scorponok meanwhile leads several unauthorised attacks on Autobot outposts and gains enough support to take over command from Lord Straxus. Technicality ties in with the main TOC story line and helps to set up events for 'Hunted' (in #4) and 'Revenge or Reconciliation?' in the Next issue of TOC. The Technobots are captured by the Horrocons and Terrocons for use in some of Scorponoks experiments. The 'Sentinel' story is incredibly dodgy and needs a lot of brute force to make it fit into continuity. This was the only story from prior issues that I considered re-writing. Typing it up for this site was almost a painful experience, but I suppose we're all young once. The title was only a working one, but I forgot to change it before I published the issue. In the story Primus guides Orion Pax to his chamber where he is 'reformatted' into Optimus Prime. [Miles Reid has in fact rewritten this story (for the better!) and it will be appearing in a future TOC issue.] |
