5 BASIC SKILLS

Serve Cues
1.  Bow and arrow
2.  Elbow back
3.  Weight on back foot
4.  Toss lands on or in front of           front foot
5.  Toss step hit

Bump
1.  Thumbs parallel and locked
2.  Arms out 45 degrees little arm        swing, use legs
3.  Feet shoulder width apart
4.  Contact above wrist

Set
1.  Ball near forehead
2.  Hand like holding and chuging        2 liter bottle
3.  Feet apart right foot forward
4.  Extend up through legs
5.  Follow through like superman

Spike
1.  4 step i.e.. right handed right foot first
2.  Use arms for lift then thumb          towards back of head
3.  Stay out of net
4.  Hit out in front and top of jump

Block
1.Hands up and move parallel to net
2.  Fingers spread thumbs 2 inches apart form W thumbs
3.  Jump straight up
4.  Penetrate the net
"W" Receive Serve Formation

1.  Receive all balls waist high and below, one step in all directions.

2.  All players open-up / turn to the player receiving the serve.

3.  Pass the ball to the setter so the ball can be set then spiked.

4.  Front row attackers must then step to their attack position.

Positions:

FL- 2 steps behind attack line; one step from left sideline

FC- Center of court 3-4 steps back from attack line

FR- 2 steps behind attack line; 2 steps from right sideline.

BL- 2 steps from rear boundary line; half way between FL and FC

BR- 2 steps from rear boundary line: half way between FR and FC

-In a 6-2 the setter always comes out of the back row.
-You will also learn a 5-1 formation.
-We may move all player in the front row to proper position after bump or attack.
-Help each other on the out call you can't bump and look for the line.
-BL and FL help each other, FR and BR help each other and BR and BL help each other.
