Locations around the Fort
The Cellars: beneath the Fort lies a vast maze of
various chambers, entered via a giant plug hole in the court yard. Unfortunately (!) they're all
flooded, however this makes for a great clue game where the contestant has to swim through them.
The Cells: the cells contain all the key game
challenges. All are entered by the door, apart from (obviously) "The Burglary" where the cell is
entered via it's window.
The Court Yard: this area takes up the other half
of the ground floor which isn't taken up by the treasure room. It contains the entrance to the
cellars and is the location were several of the ordeals are held.
The Deck: the deck is (as it's name suggests) a wooden deck which creates a first floor in the middle of the Fort. It consists mainly of La Boule's gong and cells and the meeting point for the team. During the "Upside-Down Bicycle" clue game the rest of the team also opens a safe which stands on the Deck.
The Entrance Gate: the entrance area consists of a gate (which the team have to open before they can enter the Fort) and a small trap door in the floor which leads to the dreaded Snake Pit...
The Flight Deck: this is the point from which people jump off the Fort during the ordeals, whether it be during the Bungee Bounce, Bungee Jump, or down the zip-line to the lobster pot.
The Labyrinth: just under ground floor level at the top of the Fort lies the labyrinth, at the end of which lives the beautiful Arianne. Male contenders have to make their way through it in her clue game to gain a clue to the code word.
The Lair: this is Boyard's private study, located
somewhere deep under the Fort, from where he opens every show from series three onwards by
studying team statistics on his computer.
The Landing Pad: this is an area at the top of the
Fort where Melinda lands with the contestants in a helicopter at the beginning of each show in series
four.
L'Oubliette: this can be likened to a giant plug hole. If the team don't have enough keys to open the treasure room door, contestants are sacrificed. They have to climb down into L'Oubliette, Jules locks them in and they pass up the key to their team mates.
The Pontoon: some way out at sea, the pontoon is where two rather wet clue games are played - "The Lobster Pot", and another rather aptly named "The Pontoon".
The Prisons: contestants who are still in the cells when time run out are taken to the jail by La Boule who guards them until they are released for the ordeals.
The Secret Entrance: this exit is found at the end of a maze of twists and turns, and is the point from which contestants must leap into the sea in order to retrieve keys thrown out of the watch tower by the Professor.
The Slipway: the team and Melinda arrived here at the
beginning of each show in the first three series. This is also (obviously) the point at which the
"Canoes" clue game starts, as well as several others such as the "Wall Climb" and "Wire Walk".
The Storage Rooms: these are usually at the end of a row of cells, and also contain key games (examples being "Rolling Cylinders" and the "Barrel Maze") and also a couple of ordeals (for example "The Searching Head"). The storage rooms can be identified by their blue entrances.
The Treasure Room: guarded by tigers and the treasure room door, the Treasure Room holds the gold which contestants seek.
The Treasure Room Door: this opens once 40 minutes is up (when La Boule strikes the gong) if it has been unlocked with four keys. Also situated in this area is L'Oubliette, the sacrifice lions and the scales which weigh the gold.
The Watch Tower: home to the Professor and the seagulls, this is where contestants go to attempt to solve riddles in order to win keys and clues.
