"A Random Encounter" is the first of the Ben trilogy, my eternity project.
The story is about Ben, X5-493, who was introduced only briefly
in the 16th episode of Dark Angel titled as "Pollo Loco".

Later on the viewers were introduced to his twin X5-494, Alec,
who became a permant member of the Dark Angel cast
memorizing the fate and face of the X5, who was eventually murdered by his own sister.

"A Random Encounter" is simply a reflection of what could've become
of the storyteller, who had an imagination beyond any limits.

This fic was started in 2003 May and therefore is the first piece of fan fiction I have ever written.
I chose Ben as my character because I somehow felt that his role has been dimished into too little
and I wanted to try and picture his life, his attempts to be normal in the world of Dark Angel.

So the beginning was simple. I took his character and drew the map into his mind.
The complicated part was to create Angela, the kind of kindred spirit I believed Ben could've loved.
I made her to be the lady's image, as Ben long believes. In the process she was
built as a badly damaged young woman, who is just as lost as he is.

This fic is the result. The first part of Ben's way; Falling in love with Angela, finding humanity.

For reasons why I began writing I can only name one: Syrai.
It was her pleed that I would write a Dark Angel fic after hearing all the
simply brilliant plotline suggestions I myself gave for her fic "In a Broken World".

Therefore I would like to deticate the charcter of Angela to Syrai,
because of her help in creating the fic. I would've never done this without her.
