Sony - Technology
Introduction
Sony first started out as a department store located in Tokyo around the time of 1946.  An engineer(Masaru Ibuka) and a physicist(Akio Morita) invested and started a company that had about 20 employees whos job were to repair electrical equipment and at the same time attempt to build their own products.  In 1954 Sony introduced Japan to its first transistor and the first all-transistor radio.  Ever since that time Sony has dominated the field with new innovative inventions such as the first Trinitron color tv, the color video cassette, the betamax vcr, the electronic camera, and the more popular playstation.  The Sony Corp of America was established in the 60s as well as Sony Uk limited.

Mis theory
From the 20 employees that Sony began with, they have grown to more then 100,000 across the globe.  Morita realized early the importance of globalization and how not to limit their products to just Japan.  A great example of Sonys relentless effort to be the most innovative is their newest and very much popular PS3 game system.  If the specs for the Playstation 3 were compared to the Nintendo the technological breakthroughs would go on forever.  Some of those specs include a cell processor, 256MB XDR Main Ram 256MB GDDr3 VRAM, 2.5 Serial ATA(60GB), USB 2.0(x4), Ethernet, Wireless Controller which is used through Bluetooth technology, etc.

Findings
Now for the past few years Sony has even infiltrated the PC world becoming one of the industrys top competitors.  In 2001 they had the number growth in computer shipments and continuing this year Sonys shipments increased almost 24 percent in the second quarter alone.  With that said, Sony is now eighth in worldwide market share.  Sony took a risk in using the same strategy for selling PCs as they do for their more traditional products.  But the numbers that Sony is putting up are proving that risk well worth the reward.  In 2001 until now, Sony is up around 42 percent in shipments of their Sony Vaio PCs in the U.S market.  Sony .com is like an world market place that gives us a look at technology that Sony is coming up with all over the globe.  With Sony .com we are just a few clicks away from viewing the latest new gismo set to his stores in New Zealand for example.
Sony offers a wide range of electronics, movies, and music.  From their latest cameras that fit in the smallest pocket of a pair of jeans to camcorders that turn a home movie into a Spike Lee look alike, Sony is changing the way people live as they have been since 1946.  Sony outdid theirselves when they introduced the world to their humanoid dancing robot known as SDR.  This robot has 24 joints on its body that uses two RISC processors for thinking and motion control.  The robot also has  a CCD camera, microphone, posture sensors and touch sensors on the bottom of the feet which all do their part in gathering info which is used to synchronize the movements giving them a human characteristic.

Conclusion
To Conclude, Sony has been speeding up the process of evolution in a way by keeping us one step ahead of ourselves.  Sony being the Microsoft of electronics are even now themselves breaking into the PC market and making a name.  This goes to show that a company like Sony are excellent at what they do and other competitor companies will come and go but Sony will be here for much time to come.
