FMR RACE REPORT - FERGUSTANI GRAND PRIX
*Weather Report
Bit of an unusual start to race day with the host nation being mostly unaware that the FMR circus was about to hit town. A number of locals were surprised to wake up in their capital city and find it the hub of The Tableland FMR League. That said, they can't be blamed for not putting on the best weather, with gusty conditions out to make life difficult for the downforce teams. The temperature will reach a warm 25 Cs with an otherwise fine day.
PERFECT SETUP: SBC with an aggressive driver
WORST SETUP: DAT with a defensive driver
No team is really prepared for the warm, windy conditions but two teams carry the worst possible setup, Team Ferg and the Dune Surfing Motor Company. Both teams are in good shape for the Championships and we'll have to see if this affects their places greatly. Good luck to all drivers.


*The Race
The Nomattian Knights so far this season have been fairly dismal. They're the only team to score no points and today was no exception. Pompous Frenchman failed to finish, the second time the team has recorded a DNF this season, one for each driver. Frenchman was his usual pompous self and gave no regard for faster drivers that were lapping him. Several drivers became extremely annoyed at this, particularly Liam & Co's Jos Oxford who caused Frenchman's exit. Caught up behind the slowest driver on the track, Oxford's frustration boiled over and he started to ram Frenchman's rear wing to get him to either move faster or get out of the way. The tight Fergustani streets made it a little difficult to move out the way but it was not impossible. As Oxford continually beat up Frenchman's vehicle with his own, much stronger and sturdier small race-like vehicle, the rear wing fell off. This was no immediate danger to anyone, least of all Frenchman, but when Pompous finally got his vehicle into a decent gear, the sudden acceleration spun his car out of control and into a barrier, causing terminal damage to the front wings to match that of the back. Oxford deftly dodged the crash and the relief was palpable on his face as he cruised off to make up for lost time.

For drivers, the front was a much less irritating spectacle. With the announcement today that the winners of any grand prix will receive automatic entry to the MarmaCup, the most prestigious of FMR GPs, winning this race became all the more important. Great Nathan of GN Racing simply dominated today. His team had a setup as close to perfect as a team could get and with some brilliant driving that was a cut above the rest of the field, Great Nathan cruised to what seemed to be an easy victory. Some seconds behind, and recovering from two very bad grands prix in succession, was Ibn the Small from Ancient Speed Demons. The troubles that had plagued his last place and DNF from EEI and Joelist Island had vanished and Ibn drove a smart and skillful race. Third was occupied by Saija of the Liamist Racing team, who only last week received their first point. The four points brings them to a total of five and so many FMR pundits wonder if this is a very late charge. Fourth was Marsie who added to her two seconds from the previous two races and came in just slightly ahead of Jos Oxford. If Oxford hadn't been held up by Pompous Frenchman, the results could have been reversed with Jos pushing all the way to the end to try to make up as many points as possible. He had only just passed the sixth placed Shez Fastest on the home straight, Fastest managed to continue the solid performances put in by Dammit Racing.

OUT: Pompous Frenchman [slammed into a wall]

A number of Fergustani left disappointed from today's race (that is, after they realised it was on) with only a seventh and fourteenth to show for their efforts and no points. This meant the only driver to score points in every race thus far, Jos Oxford, has just snuck into the lead in the drivers standings by a point over Ferga Burga with Sandy Duneby four points behind them. In the constructors standings, Jos' 21 points has lifted Liam & Co Racing into the lead, ahead of the 20 points of Team Ferg, both teams with only one driver doing all the scoring. Third is the Dune Surfing Motor Company, another point behind on 19. So today's race certainly makes the championship more interesting and with Great Nathan now gaining entry to the MarmaCup, there is even more at stake than ever.
