FMR RACE REPORT - JOELIST ISLAND GRAND PRIX

Welcome to the third round of The Tableland FMR Championship. This week we head to the Joelist Islands, which is experiencing some cool temperatures, around 19 Cs, which are a result of the breeze blowing off the coast near to the track. The race will be slightly overcast but not posing too much of a threat of rain.

WORST SETUP: SBC with a defensive driver
In pretty similar conditions to last week's grand prix in Ancient Burtorr, Team Ferg and the Dune Surfing Motor Company, the two teams set to tussle over the Championship, will both be advantaged to the maximum. All other drivers can expect to receive a bonus of some sort. Good luck to all participants.


*The Race
Jos Oxford is one of two drivers to score points in all three GPs so far and again he didn't disappoint representing Liam & Co Racing. Much of the race was dominated by Oxford, as he looked to be the first Liamist driver to win an international FMR grand prix. But alas, it was not to be. Marsie, the cause of the first Tableland FMR pile-up, managed to slink past, steadily closing the gap in on Oxford, until he could no longer hold her off in the dying stages of the grand prix and was overtaken. His small race car-like vehicle was also outpowered by Sandy Duneby of the Dune Surfing Motor Company, who had a clear advantage in this scenario. She cruised right past Oxford, leaving him to collect his second third and continue to be the only points scorer for his country. While it was not particularly tight, it was still interesting to watch the two top female drivers in Tableland FMR go at it. Eventually, Duneby took the chequered flag, solely on the strength of her car. Most would not doubt that Marsie had actually driven harder and better but technology is fickle and will play into the hands of few. The home crowd was elated when Hes Fastest, of Dammit Racing, managed to match Shez Fastest's performance in Tamamara by placing fourth and missing out on a podium position by a handful of seconds.

At the other end of the field, only two of the ten FMR teams in The Tableland are still without points: the Nomattian Knights and Liamist Racing (rumour has it that next season the latter will merge with LSE Technologies or maybe even be scrapped). Another poor performance from both teams saw their drivers making up the bottom four. That is, excepting Ibn the Small who had a major technical failure on the track and was unable to finish the GP. It seems his car completely died. Everything failed. The suspension broke, the wheels fell off, the sidepods collapsed, the drivetrain was shattered, the engine fried, the on-board computer crashed and the foils were all ripped off. What resulted was an incredibly spectacular crash that involved three rolls, two flips and a 263° rotation until the vehicle was finally halted by slamming into a wall at what was still quite a high speed. Unofficial crash judges gave an average score of 9.65 to Ibn's accident and all wish him a speedy recovery. Investigations are underway at the Ancient Speed Demons' garage as to find the cause of this catastrophe. It may well be a result of the complete funding vacuum of the team.

As we say goodbye to the Joelist Islands, our hospitable hosts, we look to the standings in both the drivers and constructors championship. Ferga Burga, scoring three lots of points in three races, is still atop of the standings, only two points ahead of Sandy Duneby. Jack Michaelson, the season's other winner, holds third while Jos Oxford is in a strong fourth, a mere point behind. The constructors are led by the Dune Surfing Motor Company, aided by the performances of Bazza, Duneby's teammate. Team Ferg is second with the Erroneous Errol Island's Island Racing Settlement in third. All three teams are relatively close, having won all three of the top two positions between them. Liam & Co Racing is five points off the pace with its two thirds. Next week, we go offshore to the Erroneous Errol Island (yet to be confirmed), who are in a strong position with the IRS team.
