former friend, out of Orange County, California, is an accidental band that first began in the year 2000. What started out as playing mostly indie covers eventually lead to writing original songs and exploring their own sound. In the summer of 2001, Mark and Liana decided to record a couple of their original songs, which turned into—oops—an entire album, which turned out to be—oops—a rather long and arduous task, but a great learning experience. Oh, and fun too, right?

The end result is a diverse collection of sounds unique to former friend. While their songs owe a lot to many different styles and influences, their love of genuine pop is a constant in their musical explorations. The band's sound continues to evolve as they grow musically, while remaining true to the 60s pop ideals that inspire them.
