Spells

  • Bifurcated Web
Not sure, but it's the spell around the Palace of Prophets. Slows aging drastically.

  • Circle Spell
A spell that traps the victim in one place by forcing them to move in a continuous circle without the victim realizing it.

  • Death Spell
A spell that can mimic a real death by making people believe that they have seen a death, and so make them viscerally accept the event as true.

  • Enemy Web
A spell cast by a wizard to make all see the one it is cast on as their worst enemy. While under the effects of an enemy web, Richard was mistaken for Darken Rahl by Zedd and Kahlan. Both were so taken by the spell that they tried to kill him.

  • Glamour Spell
A spell that makes the caster attractive to others. Illegal at the Palace of the Prophets.

  • Keeper Spell
A spell drawn by an artist that creates an invisible cocoon around the victim. Once touched, it begins to tighten. Eventually there is no room left in the box and the victim won't be able to move. The spell is poison, and inevitably either the poison or the crushing effect kills the victim unless they remove the spell.

  • Light Web
A destructive type of magic similar to a bomb with a long fuse. Can cause pain to those in it. Can be triggered by many things, as set by the caster.

  • Maternity Spell
Cast by Nicci, after learning it from Sister Lidmila, on Kahlan. She forced Richard to come with her to Altur' Rang. What happens to Nicci, happens to Kahlan. Also, Nicci can, at any time, stop the spell and Kahlan would die.

  • Sunset Spell
Is a constructed magic. Small box, the size of half someone's palm. The box was shaped like the upper half of stylized sun - a half disc with six pointed rays coming out from it, meant to represent the sun setting at the horizon. The box was lacquered a bright yellow. The rays were also yellow, but with lines of orange, green, and blue along the edges. Saliva and/or blood are catalysts that will activate the spell. A thief can activate it as well as a wizard it recognizes. It goes off at sunset. Music plays to show that it has been activated. Close box, the music starts but it matters not. The spell will still go off.

  • Tracer Cloud
A cloud hooked to someone by a wizard for tracking purposes. Looks like a snake to everyone but the victim, who sees it as a dot of cloud in the air.

  • Worm Spell
A magic spell cast on a person so that when another person's magic is used on them the worm spell is ignited destroying the person. An example would be Zedd's Wife. Also, Kahlan after she was attack in Anderith.

  • Constructed
Constructed magic can go undetected by even those with the gift. Trying to repel the constructed magic unleashed is futile. Constructed magic is far different than conjured. Rather than using the gift on the spot, constructed magic has already been made up in advance. It can be preserved for a great period of time thousands of years, maybe even forever. When it's needed, the spell is triggered and the magic is loosed. It can be triggered by just about anything. It also depends on how it was constructed. No wizard now is able to construct such a spell. Little is known about the ancient wizards or what they could do, but from what little we do know, a constructed spell could be something kept dry that comes to life when you get it wet-for example something to help fertilize crops when the spring rains come. It could be triggered by heating, like a cure taken for a fever the cure carries a construction in and the fever triggers it. Others are triggered by a little magic, some by an elaborate application of incredibly intricate wizardry and great power. A constructed spell is usually good only once. It's used up by doing what it was constructed to do. That's one reason they're rare; once used, they're gone forever, and there are no longer any wizards alive who can make more.
