| - Jonny Santos - Vocals - Tommy Decker - Drums - Mike Sarkisyan - Guitars - Robert Garcia - Bass Spineshank originated in February of 1996. Spineshank evolved from former band Basic Enigma which included current members Jonny Santos on vocals,Mike Sarkisyan on guitars, and Tom Decker on drums. With the creation of Spineshank came the addition of Robert Garcia on bass. There heavy riffs and piercing screams earned them recognition and friendship with Dino Cazares guitarist of Fear Factory. After hearing Spineshanks demo Dino offered Spineshank to open a show for F.F. at the Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles. The bands raw energy, emotion and obvious talent earned the band performances in support of the likes of Coal Chamber, Snot, Soulfly and System Of A Down. Roadrunner records also began to show interest in the band, eventually siging them to a record deal. Their debut, Strictly Diesel, was released in September of 1998, and featured yet another tie-in with Fear Factory with vocalist Burton C. Bell singing alongside Jonny Santos on the albums final track "Stain." Though this debut was brilliant the band still had not reached their full potential or created their own distinctive sound. Then "The Height Of Callousness", emerged and took the metal world by surprise. The bands instrumental abilities exceeded that of the previous album and Jonny's voice reached a whole new level of power and emotion. "The Height Of Callousness", was produced by Gggarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Kittie) at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and mixed by Scott Humphrey (Rob Zombie, Methods of Mayhem) and Frank Gryner at the Chop Shop in Hollywood, CA. "This record is about hitting your breaking point," explains Tommy. "It's when you get to the point where you don't feel anything anymore, whatever it is that gets you to that point, things like anger, frustration & depression, when those feelings take over, that is The Height Of Callousness." |
| To me, Spineshank is just one thing- pure raw emotion. With hard and heavy guitars and vocals its the pefect music to listen to when ur in one of those angry moods. Behind all that heavy rock however is some very powerful lyrics |
