| A number of mysteries surround the figure clad in black known as Ash. Here is where you will learn about his past, and perhaps understand why there is so much mystery about him. Ashley James McGray, or Ash, as he would rather be called grew up like any other kid, coming out of a middle class family where he and his sister, Kasi had been raised by their mother, as they had been told there father died trying to fight off a troll when they were still little. Ash grew and he became a fine young man, always getting himself into some sort of trouble with no way to get out of it. But it changed when he was only twelve. No one will ever know for sure what happened to the town of Dai and those that had a pretty good idea hate to talk about it. All that is known was that there was a power greater than any other ever seen, his name was Sian. Sian destroyed everything and everyone before him and moments before their mother died, she hid Ash and Kasi away, hoping that their lives would be spared in the coming destruction and that she would have not died in vain. And she did not, for as soon as the evil came to Dai, it left, leaving nothing but destruction and two orphaned children. What were they to do? Ash was only twelve and Kasi was only nine. Ash unfortunately had to grow up before his time and he took charge. As much as he hated to do it, he left Kasi in the care of a monastery, swearing on pain of death to come back for her one day. A tear stricken good-bye and Ash cast himself out into the world to make a living so that he could keep that promise. But it's hard to be a twelve year old boy in a world as scary as this one. Thing went from bad to worse and for two years, young Ashley endured beatings for stealing the food he had to survive and being looked down upon by society. Then, for the first time in two years, fate brought something great into his life, Kaieden Sennindun. Kaieden was an elderly but loving fellow and when he saw little Ash about to be beat for his most recent round of thievery, Kaieden raised his walking stick and exclaimed, "Any man that shall lay a hand on this boy will fall by my sword!" The towns people knew of Kaieden's ability with a blade and they knew that there wasn't a soul among them that could fight him, no matter how old he was. It was lucky for them that Kaieden was not an evil man, but rather a man of great virtue, always having a lesson to be learned. For three years, Kaieden would raise Ash if he were his own son, letting him do work to earn an allowance so that he could pay his own way in life rather than steal. The value of hard work was but one lesson that Kaieden would teach Ash in their three years together. But the day soon came that Ash needed to make his own way in the world. Another good-bye and Ash was out into the world again but again, unfortunately he fell. He tried his best to honor his teacher but he soon went back to stealing and with the swordsmanship that Kaieden taught him, he soon became an infamous man. But he didn't steal from everyone, no. He just stole from those who had too much money and no values. He was a Robin Hood of sorts. Though he thought he did good and planned to keep it up, something new found him in Rhy'Din and it would change his life forever. Her name was Serenity. And Ash loved her. He loved her more than he had loved anything in his life, because she loved him in return. Ah, romance blossomed but a harsh winter was in the horizon and her name was Annabelle. She charmed Ash into leaving Serenity and becoming her toy, though Ash thought he was in love with her now. She played with him until she got tired of him and she then left him discarded as she moved on. Poor Ash, so heartbroken and hurt. It sparked a new feeling inside him, one that would dominate him for a long time. That feeling was anger and it was fed by a desire for revenge. Ash played with many women just like he had been played with, casting them aside when he was done and not thinking another thought about it. Ash has slumped down to the level of the thing that hurt him and even though he knew it, it was too hard to stop. But the day would come when he had to stop, when society cast him out and would no longer have him. His life was at risk as many hunters came to collect a price on his head. He had to run and he had to be by himself. He travelled for a long time, finding no permanent place to stay, just going from here to there until he felt his stay was too long. That had been Ash's life for a long time until now. He didn't want to run and he began to recall a promise once made to his little sister. To come back for her, to be a family again. It took time but Ash made a home for himself and he went for his little sister. They're together now, living quietly away from society in tranquility. They do enjoy company when it comes there way, as long as no one else tries to kill Ash. So, when you're out that way, where the demons can't reach and the morning sun first finds the lonsesome valley, come and visit. They'll be glad to see you. |
