| If Your Pet Is Missing
Check with your neighbors to see if they have seen him/her ... leave your telephone number in case pet is sighted. Leave card in mailbox if not at home. Check with all your local vets, dog control, and rescue/shelter organizations and pet food stores in your area. Recheck every day or every other day. Check with local police and keep checking with them as most times info is not relayed to the next shift. Ask the UPS, FedEx, mail carrier drivers in your area to be on the lookout for your missing pet. Give them a flyer with a picture of your pet. Offer a reward for info leading to finding your pet. Post flyers preferably with clear picture of pet and short description in permanent black ink with your telephone number on telephone poles etc of busy intersections especially those closest to your home. Extend range outward if pet hasn't been found after one week. Make sure your tel # is easy to read. Add reward for info leading to recovery of pet. Post flyers in Pet Food stores, Vet offices, supermarkets, libraries, etc anywhere there is a large volume of people traffic. Report your missing pet to your local Pennysaver Lost & Found, New York Journal News, North County News and any other local paper in your area. Place ad in local Pennysaver immediately as it takes over a week for it to come out in print. Check lost and found ads in the pet section of these sources also. Notify Lost & Found classifieds of petfinder.com, westchesterpets.com, Pets911.com, Animal Link, CT Cat Rescue Web, or other animal lost & found classifieds of websites in your area. Check found ads posted on these websites every day. Two important tips sent in by cat owner: Put some kitty litter used by the lost cat in yard and keep calling kitties name after dark as cats are noctural and will be out at nightime esp 11 pm on when things are quieter.
