Cassidy asks....          Do you know ??
Cassidy, Our Forgotten Felines FIV+ spokeskitty, wishes you to know:

IF YOUR KITTY IS DIAGNOSED WITH FIV, MAKE SURE YOU GET HIM/HER RETESTED A FEW MONTHS LATER WITH THE WESTERN BLOT as your kitty may NOT actually have the virus but only have been exposed to the virus and could become negative several weeks or months later.

KITTENS TESTING FIV POSITIVE WILL MOST PROBABLY BECOME NEGATIVE!

AND there is always the possibility is could be a FALSE POSITIVE which does occur frequently enough to warrant retesting.

That the feline aids virus is transmissable ONLY to OTHER CATS ONLY BY BITING

That the feline aids virus is NOT transmissable to humans or dogs or other animals

The feline aids virus is NOT related to the human aids virus

FIV+ cats can and do live almost as long and healthy a life as other indoor cats with proper care & nutrition and longer than most indoor-outdoor cats !  It's been my experience that when FIV+ kitties start showing some health problems at age 13, most other "normal" cats are doing so also, just different kinds of medical issues.

SO PLEASE OPEN UP YOUR HEART

AND ADOPT ONE OF THESE MOST DESERVING "FORGOTTEN FELINES"

either as an only pet,  with another kitty with FIV, or non-aggressive cat /s
or a dog as many cats get along much better with their special dog than with other cats and become lifelong companions.

Ask Rosie!  our 9 year old FIV+ kitty whose best friend is her dog, Lou. And yes, Rosie does mix with her "normal" kitty friends.
Rosie is one of the rare kittens who stayed FIV+and even though we have had to work out solutions to Rosie's medical problems when they arose throughout her life,  she has always overcome them and gone on to enjoy life to the fullest!

and Rosie thanks her special supporter Jon in paying for her maintenance depromedrol shot every 3 weeks ... purrs!
