HOMELESS CAT ABUSE IS ALSO NOW AGAINST THE LAW

IF YOU SEE OR KNOW OF A PERSON/S THREATENING TO KILL ANY HOMELESS CAT,
please note that they are PROTECTED BY LAW IN NEW YORK STATE which now classifies all cats, owned or homeless, as domestic pets.

The killing of feral cats is now a felony, punishable by up to three years in jail.

The Westchester County District Attorney wants to  prosecute such cases. The only people that can kill ferals are your local animal shelter.   Outside of Westchester County, report to your local animal control officer or local police. Numbers To Call To Report

NYS Animal Cruelty & Fighting Sport:

It is a crime to torture, abandon, injure, fight for sport or money or deprive an animal of food, water, shelter, and care in New York State.

The telltale signs of dog fighting include individuals who house dogs in abandoned buldings or garages ( the dogs wear wide leather collars with heavy rings and studs or have scars on the head, throat, legs and ears or may even be bleeding).

In Westchester County, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office investigates and prosecutes those responsible for animal cruelty. The Westchester DA's office receives and acts on animal cruelty complaints.
