| This old house sits along a main road near Jemseg, and is almost completely hidden from view by trees and bushes. A large barn and a garage are also nearby. This place has obviously been vacant for many years, but like many of the vacant buildings I've visited, someone still uses it for storage. This building was close to some occupied houses, so to be on the safe side I asked permission before going inside (the owner happened to live just down the road). |

| Once inside, it becomes obvious that this house is in need of more than a few repairs. Virtually every wall, floor, ceiling, or doorway has started to bend or lean one way or another. Most of the plaster has fallen off the walls, and the vast amount of junk cluttering the floors requires that you step very carefully. There doesn't seem to be anything of value in here; most appears to be stuff that nobody had a use for, but didn't want to throw away. A few things of interest included some advertising signs from (long-closed) local businesses, such as a U-Pick strawberry farm. The floors were surprisingly solid considering the condition of the house. The tin roof has probably spared the place from extensive water damage you'd normally find, such as holes in the ceiling or floors. |

| A bedroom at the top of the stairs. Note the old sewing machine and radio. A bedroom at the back of the upstairs. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Exploring the upstairs was a bit more adventurous. The stairway and upstairs hallway were almost totally dark, thanks to an odd lack of windows in that part of the house. It was dark enough that I had to use the nightvision on my camcorder, to find my way up. In the lower right photo you can see a small twig hanging from a spiders web; when this brushed my neck on the way up the stairs, I thought it was a bat and quickly ducked down. The upstairs was basically just more of the same; in one room there was a nice old console radio and an antique sewing machine, but both were in rough shape (the radio was totally stripped). The air quality was pretty bad due to mold and animal feces, so I didn't stay up here too long. |

| Not sure what this was, but it was long dead. The staircase. Note how narrow these stairs are. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Time to head back outside, for a few final pictures: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
