| I first started writting songs about midway through 2000, but I only wrote down the lyrics and memorised the music in my head, it's still that way a lot of the time, but I changed from Physics to Music in March 2001 (way back in high school) and I've never really looked back. I mostly write my music using an excellent program called Finale, which lets you edit the music like you would a real score on manuscript paper (except no yucky smudges from rubbing out mistakes) and play it back as you go along, which is very good, because I've never had formal music training before taking it up in 2001, the rest of the time I sit in front of a piano with a sheet of manuscript paper and a pencil, needless to say this is not nearly as productive. Since then I have written several compositions which you can hear here and I'm happy that I've been getting better at it as I've gone along. I must also mention my music teacher over those two years. Mr. Towner who encouraged me (a bit) and slave drove me in his serious manner the rest of the time. But he and a friend of mine, Nathan Green, who is also a music teacher, really did help me through those early days and have helped raise the quality of my composition from horrid to average. On an unrelated note, all music on this section of the website is Copyright Bob Hu and I reserve all rights to them and their use. But feel free to download and listen to them, if you distribute them (as unlikely as that would be), please give proper credit for them and provide a link to this website or my e-mail address [email protected] if possible. |

| I wrote Zion for my HSC composition task. I think it's probably my best composition yet. | |||||||||||
| I wrote Scary Theme Music and Scary Theme Music II for someone from my high school who needed some music for a computer game he was writing. Out of the two pieces I like Scary Theme Music II a lot more simply because its more complex and probably more interesting. However, in hindsight both pieces are rather generic, but I learned a lot in writing them and enjoyed the whole thing, even though they were eventually never 'used'. | |||||||||||
| I wrote Alliance mostly because I wanted to experiment with some new instruments, namely, un-tuned percussion and synthesisers. It's a bit new-age sounding and lacks a strong theme, but I've had one person I know say they like it, so I've decided to put it up. | |||||||||||
| I wrote Australian Medley for a music assessment task using the melodies of a few traditional Australian folk songs. It's a laid back piece using some very simple themes. | |||||||||||
