| HEROIN is an illegal drug that is made from resin or sap of the opium poppy. It is a central nervous system depressant which means it slows down the workings of the brain and spinal cord. It is mixed of cut with other substances such as glucose. The use of heroin causes body temperature to drop and slows down breathing. But the most dramatic effect takes place inside the brain. Like other opiods, heroin prompts the brain to release chemicals (neurotransmitters) called endorphins. Almost immediately upon heroin use, the user experiences a complete cessation of all physical pain and discomfort. Common effects: The effects of heroin depend on the strength of the dose, the blend of chemicals, the physiology of the user and their state of mind at the time of taking the drug. Damage caused by Heroin use: 1. Collapsed veins and skin avscesses 2. Risk of contracting various blood borne viruses, such as HIV and hepatitis, or blood poisoning from sharing needles and other injecting equipment. 3. Chronic constipation 4. Incresed risk of contracting pneumonia and other lung problems 5. Fertility problems 6. Disturbbance of the menstrual cycel for women, or impotence in men 7. Poor nutrition and reduced immunity 8. Convulsion 9. Heart Attack 10. Sudden sharp blood pressure increses Heroin is highly addictive! |
