Origins:
Kye and Narrain (Continued)
Contradicting myself?

She crumbles the plastic sheet in her hand as the door opens.

Now you are saying the past is unimportant. Kye says, taking a crme and pouring it into his coffee.

She knows the answer before she asks.

You know that isnt what I mean.

He stops, eyes squinted in the partial darkness, hand still on the knob. She flips the switch and light floods the room. The question falls from her.

Thats what you said. Kye moves his hand in slow circles as he stirs.

His answers burn. The pain starts in the solor plexus.

You need to learn and read between the lines sometimes.

She cant breathe. Cant hear. Cant think.

Why, when the writing is on the wall?

She feels something break inside.

I dont want to talk about it.

His hands drop. It doesnt mean anything. I love you. You know Ive never stopped loving you.

You brought it up. Kye sips his coffee.

The plastic rips as she throws it violently towards him, tears not quite leaving her eyes.

I know.

She doesnt know him at all.

Why avoid it now? Its like starting a fight that you have no intention on finishing.

She stares at the stranger that shares her bed.

Not everything is about fighting Kye.

She could break him. She knows it, but she still cant move.

If you look at the history of mankind, man is confrontational by nature. Everything is a conflict, in one shape or another. Even this divorce is another type of fight. It always comes down to a fight. That is just human nature.

She is held still by a weight stronger than even the wall which smashed her body and held her bleeding, left for dead.

Our eggs are here.

She is greatful for it.

Good.

Because she knows if she could start, she would not stop until she broke him beyond fixing.

You know, first time we did this I expected youd take your coffee black.

Bitter like life? Kye says with a slight sidways smile, his brows arched.

Narain returns a half smile of her own. Yeah, something like that.
