| Easy there killers. Says Maxis You can take up this neverending battle some other time. To emphasize that the debate is over he turns to me You never did tell me how you know Blitz. I just transferred here for Elementalism. Blitz is in my Fire, Incandesence and Combustion class and I overheard him talking about the impossible spell you cast last week. When I asked him how it could be done, he invited me to come by and ask you myself. Maxis blushes and shoots Blitz a whatd you do that for! look, then points at the stack of electronic notebooks scattered next to his computer. Id like to know that myself. He sinks back onto the couch with a sigh. The last thing I remember before I passed out is Lyssra jumping on the back of the werewolf andLyssra! You were there. You saw the whole thing! You saved my life. Tell me what happened. Lyssra shifts uncomfortably in her chair, unhappy with the turn the conversation has taken. I didnt save your life. She says, intensely examining the design of the floor. Maxis doesnt seem to notice. But what did you see? I dont remember anything and Mr. Binder wants a ten page, single spaced paper on how I broke a perfect and unbreakable level one circle of holding with a single strike! His tone is one of excitement bordering on desperation. She sighs, kneading her hands, searching for the right words. It was like a storm came over you, well, more through you actually. One minute you were down and everything was deathly still, the next the whole place was surrounded by wind and you rose and attacked with lightening speed and accuracy. It was like you were possesed. He didnt have a chance. Just as soon as it began, it stopped. Lyssra shudders. My head is spinning. Im going to be that good someday! He didnt just cast the spell, he became the spell. Thats what every great wizard aspires to. But how did I do that? Maybe being unconscious helped. I suggest You were in such a state of absolute calm that you were able to channel the spell without the usual interference. Hmm, Maybe he mulls that over and starts jotting down calculations. Lisa has given up on the conversation and has resumed staring intently at the material in her notebook. Zabob hops onto her shoulder and tries to offer some assistance. Shes startled at first but seems grateful in the end for his help. Lyssra sits quietly, her aura radiating anxiety. Its like theres an open bag of Snakesnacks squirming around in her stomach. I picked up on it as soon as I came in but I can feel it even more intensely without the conversation to distract me. That must be rough, automatically telegraphing your emotions, no chance for a poker face. I use a simple countering spell, centering myself and visualizing a choppy lake slowly calming until it is completely still. Blitz sits down next to me, a book in hand. Thats when I realize, Ive successfully blocked Lyssras emotions, but, strangely enough, Im still tense. Whats going on here? |
