"The Angel's Kiss"
The dear Christ knew that the way was rough,
and the tiny feet not strong enough,
So, He called an angel and sweetly smiled
As He laid in her arms a little child.
"Be very tender with her", He said.
"I took her gently from her bed.
She had such tiny hands and feet,
She was so helpless and dear and sweet,
She could not walk earth's seamy way.
So, I brought her back to heaven today.
She will grow beautiful, strong and fair
For the ones who could not keep her there.
The father and mother are sore at heart
and over and over their teardrops start.
But we'll love and keep her, you and I,
Until they come to her by and by."
A fantasy? Perhaps.
But I'm sure of this:
She woke and smiled at the angel's kiss.
