Ellen's Encounter

My encounter:

It all really started the the night before the signing. It turned out that I didn't have to go to work the next night, so my friend Lisa and I had this big discussion about driving to Toronto to go to the signing. We even flipped a coin, heads being that we would go.. it landed on heads twice in a row.. (fate, I tell ya!!) So, we decided to skip class the next day, and drive up. We left our dorm at 2:30 Wednesday morning. It kinda felt like we were sneaking out.. ;)

Before we even left New Hampshire, we ended up stopping at the Wal-Mart in Claremont to get a camera.. and I needed a bag to put for what I had gotten Matt.. and of course, the only bag that wasn't *too* big was one with butterflies on it..

So anyways, on with the story... we finally got into Toronto a little before 1, I think. We ended up parking across the street from Chapters.. and the whole time, no one even parked remotely close to Lisa's car.. I swear, we were probably the only people there with a car that had MA plates... lol

So we're standing outside for over three hours, and I didn't even think to bring a jacket.. Luckily my CSC Athletic Training sweatshirt is pretty warm.. and bright freaking blue, too.. I had this kid, who couldn't have been more than 5 or so, constantly touching my thigh.. it was really disturbing.

So, we finally get in, and I see Matt.. I think someone must've been standing in front of Jeff or something.. We move along the line, and finally we get up to the table, and I'm surprised I didn't have to be mopped off the floor... lol. Matt asked me how I was, so then I asked him how he was.. and I told him that I had something for him, and since I decided to come, I wanted to give it to him in person. He was really cool about the girly bag... Of course, I'm talking to Matt the whole time Jeff is signing my book..

The best part had to be when Matt and Jeff asked us where we had come from to be there... and the looks on their faces when we told them New Hampshire was totally priceless... their eyes bugged out... and I'm all like, "well, I'm actually from CT.. (pointing to my friend) and she's from MA." So I said to Matt, "We drove 10 hours to come meet you.."

They totally thanked us for coming out to see them.. and man, just the few seconds I had were great. I got a few pics, god only knows when I'll get them developed.. Lisa and I ended up going out for a drink afterwards, and the lady totally scrutinized my license.. I know I don't look 19, but my license says I am.. lol

Call me crazy... but as my mom put it, I seized an opportunity. We finally got back to NH about 3:30 Thursday morning.. and I didn't go to sleep until about 4:30, so I went to class that day on 4 hours sleep.

I think it was totally worth it for those few seconds I got to talk with him. He's so nice, so sweet, so caring.. I could go on forever saying nice things about him, and never run out of things to say.
