Chapter 6: Mr. Right
The guys couldn’t believe that they were actually going to be home for the holidays but they could believe that they were already signed to do a show at the House of Blues upon their return.
All day Lance wondered if his heart would show up. He prayed all night to make it happen. Joey only thought of Reann. JC played with lyrics. Justin got out of doing his studies because it was the first time they had been home in a year and Chris just lounged around.
~Across Town~
"Hey, did you see this article in the paper?" Sam asked as he held it out to Natalee who was late picking Connor up from the babysitter’s.
"I haven’t got time to read the paper what’s it about?" She said rushing to pour her a cup of coffee. Unfortunatly, the only job she could get was on 3rd shift and Sam worked 2nd shift which meant she only got to spend a few hours with Connor.
"Well it seems that the group that JC is in is playing tonight at the House of Blues!" He stated. Her cup went crashing to the floor instantly.
"Shit, this can’t happen. What the hell am I gonna do? I’m not…" She was interrupted with his firm hands on her shoulders.
"Honey, you knew this day would happen. You have to tell him, he has the right to know. I already called; you have a ticket waiting.
"But what if…" She said with fear in her voice and terror in her eyes.
"Then I will call Daddy and we’ll fight him or he’ll accept you!" He gave her a quick hug as he continued the thoughts in his head, "and when he does I will lose both of you."
~House of Blues~
The guys began to set up the stage they were so nervous. They had the usual what ifs running through their minds. Especially since their rival seemed to be doing very well. It wasn’t long before they had a chance to sit down and breath and Chris’s eye began to wander. Then with Hawkeye precision he saw a beautifully tanned goddess straight out of some magazine. She had a smile that could light up any dark room and her hair was that of dark hot chocolate on a cold Pennsylvania morning.
"Chris, dude what the hell are you staring at?" Joey punched him in the shoulder and brought him back to reality.
"Guys, you see that sweet Hershey kiss standing over there. That’s the girl I’m gonna marry someday. We’re gonna have a huge wedding and kids right away and were gonna…"
Chris was interrupted by the extreme burst of laughter that escalated from his friends.
"Yeah sure, Chris and someday I’ll be with Janet Jackson. You dork." Justin said.
"Come on guys. Leave him alone besides we have to get ready. There about to let the girls in!" Lance said still with his deep southern drawl.
~An hour later~
Natalee couldn’t believe her eye’s when she saw him up there. He was still dancing with two left feet but he had gotten better, though even through his stage face you could see he was missing something.
They were on their last verse when he spotted her, though she looked more like an adult but she was still the perfect beauty that haunted his dreams for the last year.
Just as he was about to leap off the stage he noticed that she looked down as she looked up again and eyed an exit he could see the look of terror, and saw the tears fill her eyes. All he could think about was reaching her before it was too late but it was. He lost her in the floods of people that crowed the boardwalk to hear them.
With his heart below his feet and his green eyes without their sheen, he returned inside to do the after party. He couldn’t believe that he lost her again.
Chris finally got the nerve to ask his hot chocolate Hershey Kiss out with the guys rudely observing.
"Hey there’s no easy way to tell you this but I’m going to have you arrested!" Chris said rolling on his toes like a child.
"For what?" She asked trying not to smile at what had to be the corniest pickup line she had to date.
"For stealing my heart, what do you say we blow this Popsicle stand and head to the beach?" He smiled with satisfaction.
"I say you’re a crazy kid, wearing his dreams on his sleeve and lunch on his chest. Besides I don’t date musicians." She slyly remarked.
"Well Sandy…" He got her name from her shirt. "One, I’m not a musician, I just sing and second, you’ll find out soon enough that I am Mr. Right for you."
