Chapter 22 It don’t matter to the Sun

It was almost two weeks since Kelly had seen JC in the arms of the other woman. Two weeks of complete torture as Kelly went from city to city treating him as if nothing had occurred.

He couldn’t tell which pain was worse, the guilt of cheating or the fact that Kelly seemed to care less about what happened.

However, as they prepared for RFK Stadium, JC noticed that everything of Kelly’s was packed neatly in a corner of the bus. Her dark brown eyes were now almost black, full of every emotion anyone had ever felt.

"I just have one question," she paused to stare deep in his blue eyes. He had apologized infinitely and she knew he was truly sorry but in her mind if he knew what the tramp’s name was, she knew that she had to leave and the instant he paused before he spoke meant that her heart fell like a ton of bricks to her feet.

"Susan," he said in a voice she had never heard from him before. And his eyes reflected the realization that the simple name being uttered from his lips was all that was needed to seal that fact of what was to become of their relationship. It don’t matter to the sun, moon, or stars, whether or not she had walked out because in his heart and mind he was the one that had truly ended the love of a lifetime.
