Chapter 1 Spilled Perfume
It was six in the morning, the sun already hit the horizon and Sam’s roommate was still not home from her girls’ night out. In which case she had every right to still be out since it was her 21st birthday but he still worried about her. They had been friends for as long as he could remember. They had the kind of friendship that no one questioned if it would go any further than that.
He stumbled down the hallway and turned on the coffee pot to begin his Sunday morning ritual before he got ready for church. He remembered the day that they both had told their parents about the cute townhouse that they had decided to rent while they were on a vacation together in Florida. Much to their surprise they didn’t get opposition from either side, just that they would have separate rooms and no overnight guests.
He was worried that she wasn’t home but in his heart he knew that she would call if there was a problem. At a quarter to seven, he stepped out of the shower just in time to hear the door creak open.
She closed it softly behind her. Hoping beyond hope that Sam was in bed. She really wasn’t in the mood to answer the hundred and two question that he would have for her especially when he realized that she was wearing someone else’s clothes and had a hangover from hell.
She tossed her long flowing red hair over her shoulder as she tip toed across the wood floor and ran smack into his bare chest still wet and hot from his shower.
"Good Morning, Sunshine." He said to her as he stepped back and lifted her face to meet his. His heart sank as he focused in on the tear stained face of his best friend and it was at this moment that he realized something did happen and he would do anything to pick up the pieces.
Instantly she started crying as he held her close. "Oh Sam, it all happened so fast. One minute we were dancing to the music and then we were playing games in the back yard and I woke up next to the most wonderful guy god ever created and then his friend told me that he was only 16. I panicked and ran home as fast as I could. My god Sam what will his parents do? What are mine going to say?" She cried even harder as she put her head in his lap.
"Well look on the bright side. I am a good friend and I gave you condoms last night." He tried to make her laugh but the look of horror that overshadowed her face made him realize that she totally forgot about protection. "Honey, don’t cry it’s just spilled perfume. You can wipe it up and move on."
