He walked aimlessly among the many well wishers and condolences. His green eyes clouded with grief; a small guilty smile upon his face as he looked upon the sleeping baby nestled to his chest who began to whimper with hunger.
His friends and family couldn't believe the resiliency he showed during the last few months. They knew that it angered him when they cancelled the rest of the comeback tour so that he could adjust to being a father two months early and now it looked as if this might be the end of *NSYNC.
******* TWO MONTHS EARLIER********
"Joey, can you believe that I finally convinced Trina to marry me?" Lance said ecstatically as he crawled into the black stretched limo.
"Nope! If I was her I would have still waited until our baby was born sweetheart. I mean look at my ankle's, I can't even see them anymore." Joey responded in his best impression of Trina.
The ceremony went romantically smooth as the two lovebirds had exchanged vows and the baby butted in with a swift kick to Lance when the newly married couple kissed.
However, outside a storm began to brew as Atlantic winds began to sweep across Orlando. Hurricane Destiny began blowing full force as the young couple headed across town to the WEG complex but just as they were about to pull off of I-4, the driver swerved to miss an overturned trailer.
Lance was drifting in and out of consciousness, only remembering bits and pieces of the limo overturning and hearing his beloved wife scream.
"Here I think there is another victim under the dress!"
Lance knew that it wasn't a voice that he recognized.
"Be careful she is 6 months pregnant." An extremely calm voice said.
Now that was a voice that he knew, Chris. So at least everyone must be alright.
"Please my son, where is my son!" Diane was screaming at the top of her lungs.
"Mom, I am here I am alright." Lance managed to get out under all the lace.
Instantly he started calling for Trina, but did not get an answer in return.
"I've got her let's get her out." Another unfamiliar voice rang with the echoing thunder.
"Get that dress off of her." This time a woman's voice shouted the commands as Lance began to feel the cold rain coming through the side of the car where they had removed the door.
"The driver is DOA. Female Caucasian, approximately 26, 24 weeks gestation, unconscious, BP dropping. I'm losing her let's get her in the air."
Lance began praying intently as he fell unconscious again praying that both of his girls were going to be alright.
The next morning, Lance woke up completely sore. His leg extended and hanging in a cast in front of him. The echo of the machines around him were enough to drive anyone insane. As he glanced around the room to see the tear stained faces of his family including his new mother-in-law, he quickly noticed that they were standing in a circle with their arms around each other and he glanced to his right and their in a bed with tubes of every kind, the breathing machine sliding up and done and the constant beep of the heart monitor, he knew that it was worse than he feared.
"Oh my god what did I do?" Lance immediately said with tears flooding his eyes.
With a jolt everyone spun around in the amazement that he was awake. For the first time, Lance could see what they were all standing around. A incubator with its own tubes and machines and a tiny little person inside. The name on the side of the machine was Bass, Destiny Katrina.
The weeks passed by as both Lance and Destiny became increasingly better and there was no change in Lance's beloved Trina. Then the day finally came that both Lance and Destiny were released to go home and just as his family was about to wheel him away from her and out of the room that contained his life, he felt her fingers move. A couple of hours later, very weakly Tina held her baby for the very first time. The couple relished in the thought of raising the child together. Between Trina crying about their daughter, she continued to apologize about their wedding. Of course, Lance just brushed it off.
Later that evening, as Lance was up to feed Destiny, the phone began to ring. Instantly, Lance began feeling the worst.
"Mr. Bass, this is Dr. Ring. There has been a change in your wife's condition. I am afraid that she has slipped back into a comatose state and she is gradually getting worse." the voice fell silent.
"I am on my way."

*****BACK TO PRESENT DAY*****
After the funeral, the days began to pass by like the wind. Lance went back to work, convinced his mother-in-law to move in with him to help with Destiny. The guys tried to help out too.
On Destiny's second birthday, Chris finally decided to get married, Joey and Kelly were working on a fourth baby. Justin and Britney has settle their long battles and realized that they needed each other. JC well he was still playing the field working on the world's record for the first man to date every single woman in America for at least five minutes. But Lance just poured himself into his daughter, his music and his movies.
On her third birthday she began to look more and more like her mother every day. On some days it was hard for Lance to even look at her. Chris and Sandy (his wife) found out they were pregnant with twins, Joey and Kelly were working on number five, Justin and Britney broke up again, and JC realized that he might have found someone to settle down with before he got his award.
On Destiny's fourth birthday, she was singing as the guys rehearsed for their final tour. Chris and Sandy had their hands full with the twins. Kelly vowed that she would remain celibate, Justin and Britney eloped in the Bahamas and JC found out that he was going to be a father.
On her fifth birthday, Destiny became a daughter on the big screen. Chris and Sandy had their son, Kelly found out that she was pregnant again. Justin and Britney had a son and JC became a single father of a child that was not his, when the girl left him for not getting married.
On the sixth anniversary of losing his wife and gaining a daughter and just when things were looking up and the guys had decided to hit the road again, Lance realized that his Destiny was very sick. Rushing her to the hospital it was confirmed that his world was about to shatter completely. Destiny had a rare blood disorder that can take years to develop and the doctors had no way of knowing how or when she might recover and how or when she might become and angel.
Time crawled by for Lance as he held his little girls hands. Blowing out the birthday cake for the 7th time and she fell asleep.
Hello God, it's me again
2:00am.
Room 304. Visiting hours are over
Time for our bedside tug of war
This sleeping child between us
May not make it through the night
I'm fighting back the tears as she fights for her life
Well it must be kind of crowded on the streets of heaven
So tell me what do you need her for
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever
But right now I need her so much more
She's much too young to be on her own
Barely just turned seven
So who will hold her hand when she crosses the streets of heaven
Tell me God, do you remember the wishes that she made
As she blew out the candles on her last birthday cake
She wants to ride a pony when she'd big enough
She wants to marry her daddy when she's all grown up
Chorus
Lord don't you know she's my angel
You got plenty of your own
And I know you hold a place for her
But she's already got a home
Well I don't know if you're listenin'
But praying is all that's left to do
So I ask you Lord have mercy, you lost a son once too
And it must be kind of crowded on the streets of heaven
So tell me what do you need her for
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever
But right now I need her so much more
Lord I know once you've made up your mind there's no use in beggin'
So if you take her with you today, will you make sure she looks both ways
And would you hold her hand when she crosses the streets of heaven
The streets of heaven
As he placed his head upon her bed, he could have sworn that he felt a soft breeze and then he felt the hand of his daughter play with his hair.
"Daddy, it's ok don't cry. Mommy said that it's not time she talked god and he said that it was ok for me to stay with you." She smiled as the machines became quiet and all her vitals returned to normal.
Lance couldn't help but to cry, he wasn't sure what was happening but maybe sometime you just have to try.
